Pride Month June 2026 More than 50 years ago, patrons and supporters of the Stonewall Inn in New York City resisted police harassment against members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) community. Out of this resistance, the LGBTQ+ rights movement in America was born. During Pride Month, we commemorate the events of June 1969 and commit to achieving equal justice under law for LGBTQ+ individuals. Boulder has a diverse LGBTQ+ community that includes people of many ethnicities, religions, and professions. They keep our community going while dealing with the anti-LGBTQ+ bias and discrimination that persists even here in Boulder, and that is growing across the country. We are grateful for local LGBTQ+ organizations such as Rocky Mountain Equality, Queer Asterisk, A Queer Endeavor and the Pride Office at CU Boulder that support our LGBTQ+ community members, many of whom have intersecting marginalized identities that are not always honored and celebrated in our city. Although LGBTQ+ rights continue to be attacked, advocacy across Colorado has produced meaningful victories in 2026. State lawmakers have worked to defend evidence-based healthcare, keep LGBTQ+ Coloradans safe, and ensure that all community members’ civil rights are protected. Coloradans also came together to ensure that the LGBTQ+ community in our state is safeguarded from discriminatory policies. That effort remains urgent and necessary. As we celebrate Pride, we honor our LGBTQ+ communities and restate our commitment to uplift everyone in our community regardless of gender or sexuality. Therefore, we, the City Council of the City of Boulder, Colorado, declare June 2026 as

Pride Month and urge all community members to honor the diversity in our community; to continue building a culture of inclusiveness and acceptance; and to stand up against injustice in all its forms.
