Transgender Day of Remembrance November 20, 2025 Transgender people in Boulder have long been and continue to be valued, important members of our community. On this day, we honor transgender people whose lives were cut short in acts of transphobic violence. In addition to the threat of violence, transgender people often have inequitable access to income, employment, adequate medical care, housing, food, and acceptance in public life. Social stigma, a lack of comprehensive protections, and erasure limit this community’s ability to fully express themselves, access services, and hold equal rights under law. These disparities are compounded for Black and Latine transgender women, who are murdered at disproportionate rates and face a uniquely complex system of discrimination and violence. The City of Boulder embraces our transgender community members and will continue to uphold our shared values of inclusion and belonging. The city will not tolerate acts of violence or discrimination against transgender people and will continue to advocate for expanded programs and equal access for transgender people. We are grateful to our partners at Rocky Mountain Equality for advocating for transgender people, both in Boulder and across the state of Colorado. Our community must continue the work of promoting change that protects the freedom, dignity, and humanity of transgender Coloradans. On November 20th of each year, we honor transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of violence for the fullness of their lives and identities, their joys, their contributions to the community, and their connections with their loved ones. We, the City Council of the City of Boulder, Colorado declare November 20, 2025, as
Transgender Day of Remembrance
