Immigrant Heritage Month June 2026 Immigrant Heritage Month celebrates the generations of immigrants from every corner of the globe who have created the unique character of our city and are linked in a shared history. Immigrants have come here to learn, work, and find freedom and shelter. They are an important part of Colorado’s history, and they continue to keep the workforce competitive, businesses innovative, and the economy strong. Immigrants bring diverse perspectives and experiences that make for a unique social and cultural influence, fundamentally enriching the extraordinary character of our community. Immigrants have not only been steadfast leaders in securing their own rights and access to equal opportunity but have also campaigned to create a fairer and more just society for all. Yet, despite these countless contributions, the role of immigrants in building and advancing our nation has frequently been overlooked and undervalued throughout our history and continuing to the present day. One in ten Boulder County residents is an immigrant, and this exceptional group of people adds to the variety of customs and languages that contribute to the cultural diversity enjoyed in our city. Boulder has joined communities across the country in the Welcoming America network, earning a 3-star designation as a Certified Welcoming city. This certification represents our commitment to creating a community that is inclusive to all people regardless of where they come from or how long they have been in our country. The City Council of the City of Boulder, Colorado declares June 2026 as
Immigrant Heritage Month And urge all to join in recognizing the distinct value of welcoming people of different backgrounds and treating all with dignity and respect.
