Welcoming Week 2026 September 17, 2026 Last fall, city staff and community partners collaborated to tell the story of the ways Boulder values immigrant inclusion during a rigorous audit process to become a Certified Welcoming City and earning a three-star certification. This September, we join Welcoming America and cities across the country to celebrate Welcoming Week: September 10-19, 2026. During Welcoming Week, organizations and communities bring together neighbors of all backgrounds to build strong connections and affirm the importance of welcoming and inclusive places in achieving collective prosperity. City of Boulder social media platforms feature the work of community partners this week, including: - Intercambio, a local organization that supports adult English language learners to build skills, confidence and meaningful connections by pairing them with volunteer instructors - Emergency Family Assistance Association, whose Economic Development program offers practical tools, education and resources to support financial wellbeing - Luna Cultura, a bilingual, bicultural woman-owned business committed to building strong, inclusive communities through the transformative power of art, science and culture While this week provides an opportunity to pause, reflect, and plan for the next phase of welcoming work in Boulder, our community prioritizes a spirit of welcoming year-round. Welcoming is a core part of who we are and always aspire to be, and Boulder will continue to choose connection, courage, and love over division, fear, and hate. Now, therefore, we, the City of Boulder Council, proclaim the week of September 10 through 19, 2026, to be Welcoming Week. I call upon the people of Boulder to join together to build stronger communities across our city.
