Pollinator Appreciation Month September 3, 2026 Pollinators weave together the rich fabric of life that shapes the health and beauty of Boulder’s natural landscapes. They are essential to our ecological and community resilience, supporting the plants, habitats, clean water, nutritious food, and healthy ecosystems upon which people and other species depend. The health of people and pollinators is deeply interconnected. Bees rely on diverse, pesticide-free flowers for the nectar and pollen that sustain their colonies. The pollen, honey and air surrounding bee colonies can also provide a window into the diversity and health of the landscape we share. The City of Boulder is partnering with our local pollinators through the new Boulder Bee BioMonitoring initiative. By analyzing honey, pollen, and air from honeybee hives and native bee hotels, the City will learn more about the environmental conditions we all share. This information can help us create healthier, more biodiverse, and more beautiful places for both people and pollinators. As our community celebrates the abundance of the autumn harvest and the remarkable ecosystems that sustain us, the City Council of the City of Boulder, Colorado, hereby declares September 2026 Pollinator Appreciation Month We hereby commit to our continuing our stewardship of pollinators and the habitats upon which they depend, strengthening the health and resilience of our larger living community for current and future generations.
