What is AI in Education There are three types of AI BVSD uses in education: Reactive - No data memory, designed to accomplish narrow tasks Examples: Spam filter, Netflix recommendation, robot vacuum cleaner
Predictive - gathers large amounts of data and applies to algorithms to detect patterns Examples: personalized marketing, detecting fraud, forecasting repairs or product demand
Generative - uses learning models to create new content Examples: MagicSchool, ChatGPT, Adobe Firefly (What we are talking about today)

AI Safety & Data Protection Protocols BVSD applies layered protections before approving any AI tool: Contractual Safeguards Data Privacy Agreements aligned with FERPA and Colorado law.
Legal & Terms Review
Enterprise-Level Controls District-managed accounts, authentication controls, audit logs, and monitoring.
No unauthorized data sharing, resale, or unclear retention practices.
Ongoing Oversight Federal & State Compliance FERPA, COPPA, CIPA, and Colorado Student Data Transparency & Security Act.

The Prompt: History and cause/effects of Clean Water Act ( and other legislation) at 4th grade level
The Result: Texts were engaging and relatable for 4th graders. Students were able to describe in their own words why these pieces of legislation were enacted and how they have impacted our lives.

Middle School 7th Grade MemoriesKaraoke!!! Tool: Song Generator Student Products: Reflected on 7th-grade memories, including nature walks, sports, and friendships, while generating a song inspired by Rick Astley's iconic tune.
Contributed ideas about a trio of friends in jorts playing soccer and enjoyed a personalized song created around this theme.
