Provide a calendar that is the same for aligned across all schools and levels. Balance contract instructional days evenly across both semesters. Allow professional development to be scheduled throughout the school year and at times when attendance is likely to be high. End first semester prior to winter break. Consider impact of climate change and weather Limit the number of partial school weeks (fewer than five days) Avoid scheduling breaks that would interfere with student participation in key assessments, including on achievement, for college admission, for advanced placement and International Baccalaureate, and language development. Address CHSAA athletics and activities calendar requirements Consider the calendars of the University of Colorado-Boulder, St. Vrain Valley School District, and other neighboring school districts where a significant portion of BVSD staff live.
