​Boulder Valley School District​ ​File: EEADA​ ​Adopted:​​prior to 1978​​date of​ ​manual adoption​ ​Revised: February __, 2026​ ​Associated Regulation:​​EEADA-R​ ​USE OF SCHOOL​​VEHICLES​BUSES​​BY COMMUNITY GROUPS​ ​T​he general philosophy of the Board of Education is that t​ransportation equipment​ ​purchased by the School District is to be used primarily for school purposes and​​that​ ​taxpayers shall not be expected to subsidize busing equipment or personnel not necessary​ ​for School District purposes.​​Consistent with Colorado law,​​Nevertheless, it is the policy of​ ​the Board of Education​​authorizes​​to make available for​​use by appropriate community​ ​groups​​school transportation equipment​​to the extent that such use does not impinge upon​ ​or impair use for School District purposes.​ ​Community groups​ ​composed of citizens 65 years of age and older may qualify for the use​ ​of school transportation equipment​, as is required by the statute relating to community use​ ​of school buses​.​​Groups shall consist of at least five people, be nondiscriminatory, and use​ ​shall not be for partisan, potentially dangerous or disruptive, or activities of a similar nature​ ​that are inappropriate for School District association.​​A​s permitted by the law, a​ll groups​ ​shall​​be expected to​ ​have adequate insurance coverage​​and​​pay the actual costs involved in​ ​the use of school transportation equipment​.​.​ ​Nonschool use of school transportation equipment shall not be intermingled with student​ ​transportation, nor shall it interfere with:​ ​●​ ​Student transportation to, from, or between schools​.​ ​●​ ​Student transportation for school activities and functions​.​ ​●​ ​Emergency transportation for students​.​ ​●​ ​Time required for maintenance and service of equipment​.​ ​●​ ​Provision of standby equipment for school purposes​.​ ​All use shall be subject to the availability of appropriate equipment and personnel and​ ​approval of the Superintendent’s designee.​

​Regulations and procedures for community use of school transportation equipment shall​ ​be developed by the administration and approved by the Board.​ ​Current practice codified 1978​ ​LEGAL REF.:​ ​C.R.S. 22-32-128​
